well, looks like the neighborhood i live in is at it again. last night, i was sitting on the couch quietly reading a book after my son had gone to bed for the night. i heard a lot of screaming and yelling going on. i opened the blinds, and the window, and looked out to where the sound was coming from. i saw a lot of people running around, and heard a man and woman screaming at each other. i heard what i thought sounded like a gun shot, but i'm not certain if it was, i was almost a block away. i said to myself, i should really call the police. soon as i said that, i saw a cop car flying down my street, in the direction of the yelling, heard the car come to a skidding stop, and the cop got out, and ordered someone on the ground. i shook my head, and my girlfriend and i talked about later, and we both agreed we don't want our son growing up in this area, it's gotten too dangerous. sure, there are a lot of young kids on my block, and also a block away, but the block away is a bad neighborhood. there are also young kids there as well. it just sucks that this neighborhood has gotten the way it has. people are moving here from the city, and causing trouble here. i told my girlfriend what this town needs to do(at least temporarily) is institute martial law, and enforce the curfew. we have a curfew here, but it's never enforced, because the cops don't bother to enforce it. they do the bare minimum when it comes to serving the neighborhoods. heck, even parking enforcement is a joke in this town. i've complained bitterly about the firehouse near my home, they let people park on the sidewalk, and i've complained to parking enforcement numerous times, nothing ever gets done about that. it's time to start looking into buying a house, and get out of this neighborhood

i'm seriously considering moving away from where we live. i thought this town was going to be a nice place to live. the block i live on isn't all that bad, it's the neighborhood one block over that is horrible. drug dealing, gang fights, etc. we have a 6 month old baby. time to leave! the block i live on is supposed to be a historical area, but we have one house that id a dilapidated boarding house, with all kinds of weirdos who live there. but, there are some nice victorian homes and huge trees on my street. the whole town has gone to in the toilet. we have a lackluster city council, and a lame-duck mayor, and a downtown civic association who doesn't give a rat's ass about the town. we've had 2 major fires that have destroyed a lot of downtown, but nobody cares to do anything, they'd rather fight over stupid shit with city council, than getting anything done for the good of the town. i want to move to either northern virginia, or the carolinas, near the beaches, and teach my son everything i know about working on the water, and raise him in a better area. also, the school district sucks here.
